Joseph Prewitt married Grace Sewing in March 1928. Joe and Grace operated a filling station and garage known as Prewitt Service Station east of Council Bluffs on what is now old Highway 6 at 25540 McPherson Ave beginning in 1935. The Prewitt's, along with Grace's brother William E. Sewing, got into the implement business in 1938 signing a contract to sell the Oliver line. The business, known as Prewitt & Sewing, was advertising in 1939 and 1940. According to the Oliver Shield magazine in August 1940, Grace wanted to do her part for the business so she put in a small grocery store inside the service station. The Prewitt's were ahead of their time as today just about every gas station has a convenience store inside! By 1941, it went by Joe Prewitt Implement. William "Bill" Sewing opened Sewing Implement as the Oliver dealer in Glenwood, Iowa in February of 1949. Joe's son Charles "Chuck" Prewitt joined the business after serving in the Korean war starting in 1953. Joe passed away in 1969.

Chuck Prewitt continued to operate and own the dealership after his father's death from 1970 to 1998. In 1976, Prewitt Implement built a new facility down the road to the east at the intersection of Old Highway 6 and New Highway 6 which is 25958 McPherson Ave. The dealership featured new signage with the "WM" White Motor Corporation logo. Chuck's son Kent joined the business and worked with his father at Prewitt Implement. Kent was shown in a newspaper article repairing an Oliver tractor at the dealership in 1977. Like many former Oliver dealers, Prewitt took on the Ford New Holland tractor line before 1991 in addition to their White-AGCO line.
In 1998, Chuck Prewitt retired and sold the dealership. At this time, the business was purchased by Bruce Bracker and Mike Swanson. Bracker had been a salesman for Prewitt since 1995. The name changed to Old Highway 6 Tractor and Equipment and operated as a New Holland, AGCO-White, and Land Pride dealership. In 2022, the dealership was purchased by Lang Diesel, Inc and operates as a Kubota dealer. Chuck passed away in 2015 and Kent in 2023.
