Ernest Sievers established his farm equipment dealership in 1918 in Newell, Iowa. In 1925, Ernest also signed on to sell Nicolas & Shepard threshers. By 1929, he had also signed with Oliver Chilled Plow Works. Ernest sold 16 Hart Parr tractors in 1928 and was recognized in a implement dealer magazine for this accomplishment. Whether Sievers knew it at the time or not, he had already amassed dealerships for nearly the entire product line of the newly formed Oliver Farm Equipment Company before the merger took place in April 1929!
In March 1934, Ernest secured another dealership with the Oliver farm equipment line at a new dealership location in Spencer, Iowa at 151 East Third Street.  Sievers Farm Equipment Co. in Spencer was operated by Carl Anderson, but owned by Ernest. Carl was Ernest's brother-in-law. The grand opening was held on Saturday, March 10, 1934 and over 200 people attended for the free lunch and display of new Oliver equipment.
In both 1935 and 1936, the dealership was the highest volume dealer of Oliver's Omaha branch. In fact, Oliver issued the dealership a bonus check in the amount of $2,379.46 for 1936 sales. Their sales for that year included: 66 RC 70 tractors, 9 Standard RC tractors, 1 28-44, 5 Red River Special Thrashers, 8 Corn Master Pickers, and 153 light line implements. He continued to operate Ernest Sievers Farm Machinery dealership in Newell for many years. In 1962, the dealership was in the top 10 club for top Oliver dealers in Iowa.  Ernest passed away in 1963.  After his death, his son Jerold Sievers along with son-in-law Jim Shirk operated the business incorporating it as Sievers Implement, Inc. In October 1963, they completed a new 60' x 114' warehouse on the west edge of town. Jim Shirk retired from the business and Jerod operated Sievers until 1986 due to health problems.  Jerold passed away in 1988.
