Art Kaiser started in the implement business in 1957 when he purchased the Gus Buls Oliver dealership. This dealership was located 4 miles west of Tripoli, Iowa at the intersection of Highway 63 and Highway 93. This location included a gas station, repair shop, and farm implement dealership. It was on mail route 3 for the Waverly, Iowa post office so it was sometimes advertised as a Waverly location.
Art Kaiser Implement held its open house on February 20, 1958. In addition to Oliver, they were also dealers for New Holland implements and Mayrath elevators. In April 1966, Art leased the gas station and repair shop from Gus Buls which adjoined his implement business and added this to his existing implement business. In the 1960's, Art's daughter Joan and her husband Don Miller along with son Jerry Kaiser worked at the dealership. Art passed away unexpectedly in September 1968. After his death, the family consisting of Jerry, Joan, and Don continued to run the dealership until 1973 when it closed. Thanks to Daniel Kaiser for providing the great photos of the dealership! |
