Allen Motor Co. established in 1926 as a Chevrolet automobile dealer owned by Fletcher B. Allen and E.H. Allen. In the 1940s, they were also farm equipment dealers for Case and Oliver.  In December 1946, the owners of Allen Motor Co. incorporated their farm implement lines as Ames Motor & Implement Co. and operated at 207 5th Street in Ames. Ralph Hutchison was the manager. In 1952, they relinquished the Oliver line to Wirtz Implement Company of Ames. They closed shortly after that in 1952. Allen Motor Co. continued as a Chevy and Buick dealer until 1970.
